Here is a recipe from Heide. In the "Dutch" country, Caramel is very popular. Most people think that they're complicated to make. Heide's recipe looks relatively easy - and delicious. Thanks for sharing it with us Heide.
Old-Fashioned Caramels
Mix butter, sugar, molasses, and milk in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil.
Add chocolate ans stir constantly until the chocolate is melted. Cook to a soft ball stage ( 234 deg. to 240 deg.) on candy thermometer or till mixture forms a soft ball when a small amount is dropped into cold water. Mix in extract and nuts and pour into greased 8x8x2 inch pan. Cool. when fairly firm, cut into squares. makes about 1 3/4 lb. candy.
Easter Eggs
This recipe is from Mary, she's originally from Denver, Lancaster county. Many churches in our area make a candy similar to this at Easter time. Now we can share it with everyone. Thanks Mary!
mix together and add 2 lbs 10x (confectioners)sugar
add:
place in frig to chill..shape into eggs or balls..place back in frig to harden.
melt together:
coat eggs or balls and enjoy
