OMG this place is a hole in the wall. The service is terrible. The Blond bartender needs some therapy. Can I say Rude and what a mouth on her. It was quite embarassing when you are entertaining business clients. I would suggest another establishment. |

I found the Ugly Oyster to be one of the best bars and restaurants in Berks County. I really enjoy the crab dip and the chicken steaks, they are wonderful. The Guiness is to die for and I really enjoy the staff I find them friendly and funny. I would recomend the restaurant to anyone. It is an Irish BAR:) |

The food is good, but I wish they would upgrqde the exhaust system to take some of the smoke out of the place. The place reeks of smoke and prevents you from enjoying your meal. A couple of the waitresses are really failures at service and attitude. |

Good bar cuisine and an outstanding bottled beer selection, good stuff on tap too. I do get a little tired of hearing some of the employees yell their life stories to each other(especially when every other word is "fuckin"). Maybe that's gaelic? |

I kind of love the place....where in dumpy old Reading can you find a bar like that? My brothers come up to visit me from Philly to go to Royals games, and we always end up there. And we have no problem with it whatever! It's our Reading/Philly/hockey connection place to schmooze and (hopefully) not lose! We have a good time there and have a couple of beers and some wings and apps. And that's just before the game! |

Beautiful pub, strong drinks, hubby loves the Guinness and awesome burgers. I once ordered the steamed seafood platter and although the clams were...well...clamless..and the cook did as some cooks do to get revenge...ah! doesn't matter...we did return again. The oysters are divine. We miss John Flywheel and have fond memories of them playing here...great fun! |

A great place to go for lunch. Soups are absolutely great and the Crab sandwich is awesome for the price. It's a nice place to go. Even dinner isn't that expensive. It's a good local pub eatery, much better than the "brass and glass" dives around the Berkshire Mall. |

Hit or Miss. This place is either excellent or terrible depending on whatever the mystery is behind the kitchen door. I have had several meals here which were very good along with Guinness that actually tastes like Guinness is supposed to taste. ...And then there was the time that my wife received a plate full of empty clam shells. They seemed to be pissed off at us for saying anything, then they took forever to replace them(with microwaved clams hard as rubber balls). I don't know why we ever went back after that, but we did eventually and it was fine. I guess they're worth taking a chance on. |

As you are probably well aware, the restaurant situation in Berks is very dynamic. New restaurants open and old restaurants close on a regular basis. We need your help keeping this restaurant listing up to date. If you know of a new restaurant that isn't on our list, or a listed restaurant that has closed, we would appreciate it if you would let us know. Thanks!! |
