well, im finally finished with the works. the $40 for two dinners, and the extra $40 for 25 minutes of games for my daughter are over. The danny bonaduce lookalike security guard killed it for me for good after giving my wife attitude. no more putting up with the rude or possibly just really too immature to be working for anywhere less than minimum wage staff. I will go elsewhere. |

Wings were overcooked and sauce not uniform. Wifes crab cakes had no flavor. Take the kids shrimp meal off the menu, it is basically all breading. Only thing decent was the soda and desert. Gameroom personel had no clue how to redeem a coupon I got from eating in the resteruant. |

Recently, I took my family to The Works for lunch during the week. The hostess was going to sit us right next to the kitchen doors until I objected. There were only a couple of tables filled, so there were penty available. The server was bored! We had to ask her for items instead of her asking us. For example, more drinks, sugar for the tea, how was the food, etc... |

My family and I used to love to go to The Works until a few months ago. I will not go back though since having major problems with the take-out. Every time we ordered take-out from The Works, our order was wrong. I finally had enough one night and called to complain. They let me speak to the manager. I told him that we didn't receive several items for which we paid extra. He really didn't seem very concerned and didn't offer anything until I pushed. At that point, he offered a $20 gift card. I really am not too terribly surprised that months later I have yet to see the gift card. |

Service 2 out of 10: We have eaten here 3 times and have had service issues all three times. Slow service and rude hostesses among other issues. Agree with the observations that there are too many kids working here with little supervision. Food 5 out of 10: Both good and bad experiences. Overall even when the food was acceptable it was not worth the $$. |

Really liked it. Went there on Saturday for a birthday party with 6 people and everyone loved the food. The Pick 'n Peel Shrimp were excellent. And the desserts are meant to be shared. We are going on Thursday night to try something else. The only complaint was the service was a little slow, but we felt relaxed, not rushed. Also the Southwestern Pulled Pork Nachos were a little dry and we couldn't find the cheese. (Needs a little salsa on the side) |

I previously had a bad experience at the Works and I decided to try it one more time. The service is just horrible. Our waitress didn't even come to our table to get our drink orders. We waited 10 minutes until ANOTHER waitress came over to tell us that our waitress was "tied up" and "could she get our drink orders". Throughout the meal we had 3 different waitresses. We had to wait 15 minutes for a glass of water. I won't try this place again. Their waitresses are more concerned with personal discussion than doing their jobs. Where are the supervisors??? |

I will continue to check back and read the opinions of your experience both positive and negative, however hopefully all positive! I hate to write a poor review, but I took a group of friends here and one of the guys ordered the Prime Rib and it came out cold. Not just warm. COLD. One entree was served over 10 minutes before everyone else's. Service was bad, food was poor. I won't be eating here again. |

Food is ok. Been there once for dinner and once for happy hour. Happy hour is a freakin joke. The DJ must have been going deaf because the music was way no loud, not too mention lousy. As we walked up the steps, which not to mention are a serious lawsuit waiting to happen, some employee asked for id. I laughed. They allow little kids up there, but they want to see my id. How can anyone enjoy a nice happy hour with loud crappy music along with a bunch of little kids running around. Save your money and time. Golds gym should have just stayed there. |

First time at The Works and it was great! The waitress was very pleasant the food was fabulous and the atmosphere was wonderful. I'll admit that it took some time for the food to come out but it was well worth the wait. Better to get a good meal slow than a bad meal fast. This is one place that I WILL go back too. |

The Works is a fun enough place to take the kids and/or even socialize with friends for a few hours. The bartender we had made/mixed great drinks. On the other hand, unless you are on the verge of starvation (i.e., you are actually dying of hunger), consder eating just about anywhere else. Even for bar food (including so-called higher end bar food), the food should be a bit better. |

I couldn't disagree more with the past two comments regarding food. Totally off base and not at all what i've been hearing about the works. Me personally - I haven't had a bad meal ever at the works, in fact i think the food and especially homemade desserts are some of the best in the area. overpriced? they charge $5.50 for a hamburger! c'mon guys, if that's overpriced then stick with mickey d's. rw |

i have to agree with rw. i've been at the works at least one time a week since they opened. my kid loves it and the food is good and tasty. prices are very reasonable especially compared to those chains by the mall and the other new places that have opened. servers are always very friendly.my kid spilled milk and 3!!! waitresses came over to help. |

Haven't been there yet, but just checking their menu, it looks like their burgers and sandwiches are reasonable, but their regular entrees are a bit high compared to the chains near mall. One of my pet peaves is restaurants that have a bunch of 5 and 6 dollar sandwiches, then most of their entrees are over 12 bucks. How 'bout a simple chicken dish for 8.50? Anyway, then I came accross their cheesesteak description and realized they're really a chain wannabe! "South Philly Cheesesteak .......... $5.75 A classic! With roasted onions and peppers, sautéed mushrooms, and served on our own torpedo roll " A classic! Are you kidding me? Roasted peppers? Give that description to anyone from South Philly, and they'll laugh at you. |

ace, i would suggest you try the place. i don't know any decent restaurant that can serve an entree for $8.50 and make a profit, unless it's the slop they serve at old country buffet. the food is quite good and fairly priced, but that's just my opinion. |

Was really looking forward to The Works - extremely disappointed. My entree (about $18.00) was terrible- flavorless seafood that looked like it was in dirty water on pasta. Husband said his was average - nothing special. Service was awful - had to wait for everything- staff was more interested in personal conversations than waiting on customers. We like games - but the game area was a big surprise. Would have cost us $4.00 to play one round of pinaball for 2 people. $1.50 per person + $1.00 for the card you have to buy before you can play (machines no take cash). Twice the price as anywhere else. We picked up dessert on the way out - to go - since would have taken forever to get it from our waitress. Dessert was at least tasty & consumed in car on the way home. One place my husband & I have agreed we will not be returning to. |

i don't mean to defend this place, but first off the pinball works out to less than $.50 a play. $1.50 per play is absolutely not the case. yeah you pay a buck for the game card, but you pay that at dave and busters or anywhere else. i know, i go there all the time. i have not had a bad meal there yet. i have got to wonder whether some of you folks are actually customers or making this stuff up. chewed chicken bones set at your table? c'mon, that is mighty hard to believe. |

I don't think this place will remain open too long as an eatery, a club maybe, but there are much better places for food. Try it once for the experience then spend all your future food $ at places like 201 West or the West Rdg. Tavern. |

As you are probably well aware, the restaurant situation in Berks is very dynamic. New restaurants open and old restaurants close on a regular basis. We need your help keeping this restaurant listing up to date. If you know of a new restaurant that isn't on our list, or a listed restaurant that has closed, we would appreciate it if you would let us know. Thanks!! |
