Nice place. Great Happy Hour specials on pizza and appetizers. New ownership has it mimicing Viva (their other restaurant) but would still recommend. |

I have a funny feeling that some of these other reviews are coming from other restaurant owners and managers... Casa Grande is one of our favorite restaurants in Berks County and we look forward to eatting there. I was there two times in the past week (with large parties... 10 or more.) The food is delicious!! Great Italian cooking! |

Ugh. Chicken marsala was overly sweet. Flounder was cooked to mush and absolutely drowned in a sickly sweet orange- based sauce that completely overpowered whatever weak fish flavor/texture was left. The green beans and potatoes on the side were equally overcooked--wilty and limp with no flavor. I won't eat here again. |

This is a wonderful restaurant--the atmosphere, the food....everything. The only complaint I have is that the prices are rather high. I don't know why some people said the service wasn't good, because I've never had a problem with that. Our waitresses and waiters have always been very attentive. |

I have dined at Casa Grande about 5 times now. I had returned because I thought their food was delicious, their service was excellent and their atmosphere was wonderful. I will have to say though that this past experience was very disappointing. I had been raving about this place and had brought my family and their friends for an early dinner. The hostess was very blah and unpleasant, she practically ran out ahead of us to the table. Our servers were exactly the same. No smiles, barely wanting to be bothered with letting us know about the specials (which in my past experiences they have all informed us of the specials without request and in great detail). Unfortunately, to be realistic, service and quality of service goes down when a restaurant is busy, BUT there was only one other table in the whole entire dining room; couldn't even give them that as a partial reason for the disappointing service. Our meals came out at different times and were not up to the par of the meals I had tasted there prior to this visit (even the same meal). I am not sure how the food can vary so much; different cooks perhaps. To end the meal the server removed everything from the table as if we were not even sitting there signaling to us that we weren't really wanted there, banging the dishes etc. I was very disappointed, perhaps it was just a once and done deal...still might be worth trying if you haven't been there. Like I said, I was very happy with everything the first few times I was there, it could just be a matter of the staff that is working on a particular day?! |

I've dined at Casa Grande a dozen or more times. I've found the food to be very well prepared and attractively presented and their house salad is one of the best salads anywhere. I lived in New York for thirty years and still visit there often. Casa Grande compares favorably with many of my New York favorites. The broiled swordfish is out of this world and the vegetables are always first class and well prepared. I'm amused by all the comparisons to Olive Garden - I don't see it though. That's like calling Chi Chi's a fine Mexican Restaurant. Casa Grande is about cuisine. Now - if they'd just get rid of those plastic Coke glass for water and replace them with some simple Libbey restaurant ware goblets and serve their butter in little soufflé cups instead of butter pats, the table would be a perfect picture. I'll continue to visit the Casa Grande in the future - when I'm not dining out in New York, that is. Joe Fuller Shillington PA |

I was at Casa Grande once for a work Christmas Party, and I was not impressed. First off, we were supposed to get a private room, and we were put in a large dining room with other people. My boss was not happy about that. My Parmesan Chicken was rubbery, and the pasta wasn't good. I love to go out to eat, and I would not complain about a place if there wasn't a good reason. |

This restaurant has every trite, overblown cliche of Italian food and culture imaginable. The open, airy dining room and railings are designed to give the impression that one is dining in an outdoor Mediterranean cafe. In reality, the restaurant is cheesy, the food is mediocre at best (and way overpriced) and the service is sullen and inept. Not recommended! For a better Italian food experience, try Olive Garden in Wyomissing, Mom Chaffee's (sp?) in Wyomissing, or Zia Maria's in Adamstown. |

I've been there twice. Put it this way, you can get the same dishes at Olive Garden for a lower price; however, you will not get the presentation or the atmosphere that Casa Grande offers. Food was decent, server was good, nothing to be overly excited about. |

THe service was terrible. THe food was average. The musical entertainment was the only thing that was enjoyable for the evening. |

Ho-hum. If restaurants were judged merely on aesthetics, the Casa Grande would get an A+ for interior design. However, if the emphasis put on the interior design was exercised on the food, this restaurant would be much more exciting. The menu is boring, with many of the entrees commonly found in any neighborhood Italian restaurant. You just get the impression that you have eaten your meal previously....somewhere else and you are paying a lot more for the sequel showing. On a positive note, service is adequate and well dressed. Overall, a restaurant with plenty of flash, but little substance. Been there, done that. |

Blah. No big deal - felt like I was eating spaghetti at home using a plain old jar of Ragu. Way, way overpriced, actually, this place is priced in the "rip-off" category. Even if the food was good, we're talking about very very simple ingredients here. Oh well. |

If you really enjoy excellent (or even good) Italian food, you should serioulsy consider not going to Casa Grande. Although, if you are in the mood for a good gourmet pizza, the pizza's at Casa Grande can hit the spot. In terms of the bang for your buck (i.e., value), for certain selections, you pay a heck of a lot for medicore tasting food. In all seriousness, go to the Olive Garden (or, if you want authentic Italian food try some place in Philly or even better, buy a good recipe book). By the way, any so- called atmosphere at CG does not in any way enhance the experience. Lastly, for Berks County, CG is a decent choice (if you feel like spending a few bucks). Note: CG is not outrageoulsy expensive, it's just that you have to take into consideration what you getting for the price. |

I don't see why all these other reviewers are hating on Casa Grande. I've been there twice. Although food is a little expensive, especially when you're in college: the service is good, the waitresses are attractive and professional, the atmosphere is nice, and most importantly the food is great. New Year's is a fun time too. If this is your first time viewing this page remember that a lot of these other people are serious critics that will complain about almost anything. Although I respect their opinion, these are the same people that will tell you remove a tree from your front yard because it clashes with the rest of the neighborhood. Finally, remember that this is Berk County. |

Great place for a date, very romantic setting and good food. For a person on a budget or a family, you'd probably be better suited to stick to the Olive Garden. |

As you are probably well aware, the restaurant situation in Berks is very dynamic. New restaurants open and old restaurants close on a regular basis. We need your help keeping this restaurant listing up to date. If you know of a new restaurant that isn't on our list, or a listed restaurant that has closed, we would appreciate it if you would let us know. Thanks!! |
