This place is amazing. I have been eating at this restaurant since I was little(when they were at chestnut). The family is very kind and provides very authentic cuisine. The move to 6th street was a major improvement, it has a great atmosphere. MY ALL TIME FAVORITE PLACE. Must try the Egg Rolls, Wonton Soup, and Chicken with Ginger and Lime sauce. (My dad especially loves the House Special Rice Vermachelli.) |

The best Vietnamese food I have ever had. By the way, I have had Vietnamese food in many places in the Washington, DC area, known for Vietnamese restaurants, Allentown, and a few other places. I have being going there for 7 years and they have been consistently good, very nice, and always reasonably priced. They have lowered the "heat" since moving to 6th St, but they will adjust it if you request. |

I have been a patron of this restaurant for over 5 years since the original location on Chestnut. The food is excellent, ALWAYS fresh and so unique. Try the House Special Rice Vermicelli, or Chicken Cabbage Salad! Regarding service, yes, things can be slow when busy or in a large group (I frequently go there in a party of 6 to 10). BUT understand WHY - all food is freshly prepared & cooked to order, and the family refuses to compromise preparation, cooking, care and quality, and will not take shortcuts to save a few minutes. BYOB, chill out, and forget about the clock! |

This is my current fave in the area . Having just discovered it a month or 2 ago . Have loved everything I've had here , from the French coffee to the Vietnamese stew dishes to the ginger ice cream . It's all been way too good . Prices are great & servings are generally more then I can eat . If I lived nearby I'd probably be obese in a short time ! It's that good !!! |

I had the same type of experience as most. Great food, but terrible service. We had a large group and waited so long for our food it was ridiculous. Even just an apology would have been nice. I would definitely go back, but if I continued to have bad service, it wouldn' be worth it. |

It's the best. My absolute favorite ANYWHERE! I find it difficult to go anywhere else. It's almost embarrassing to pay the check... you feel as though you should have paid at least 50 percent more. The only pan is that it is quite noisy. |

I love this restaurant. The finest oriental cuisine I've ever had. I love the Filet Mignon with the Watercrest, and I love the scallop special. The white chocolate banana bread pudding is orgasmic. I would reccomend this restaurant to anyone. The staff is wonderful and friendly. I don't know if these other people are at the same restaurant as I am but I think the service is excellent for the amount of customers there are. Absolutely divine. |

We have enjoyed every dinner we've had at Hong Thanh, and we bring out-of-town guests there (especially vegetarians, because the menu is extensive). Maybe they read these reviews and improved their service, because they've been very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and fresh. |

Great vietnamese food... terrific atmosphere... Our (picky) family eats here frequently. The prices are great and they have some terrific dinner & dessert specials. We only had a problem with slow service once when there was a large party in another room, every other time it's been quick and the staff is friendly. Try the shrimp & sweet potato appetizer.... yum! |

Freshest Asian cooking around at a reasonable price, however, it does get crowded so I'd make reservations. The Frog Legs and Filet with Watercress are unique and good. I love the garlic shrimp and one has to try the Vietnamise egg rolls. Wonderful. |

Wow, a restaurant in downtown Reading and yet you feel like you are in a real city. Great tasting food. Great presentation of food. Very fresh food. Never had a bad meal there. Yes, service can be a bit slow at times (but never so slow that it ruins the dining experience). |

If you really like oriental-style food, swallow hard and drive into the city. This place is worth it. |

As you are probably well aware, the restaurant situation in Berks is very dynamic. New restaurants open and old restaurants close on a regular basis. We need your help keeping this restaurant listing up to date. If you know of a new restaurant that isn't on our list, or a listed restaurant that has closed, we would appreciate it if you would let us know. Thanks!! |
